Soy Protein Bars
Soy proteins bars add a whole new level when
considering healthy snack foods.
They completely move away from traditional
chocolate or snack bars that are filled with:
- Low density lipoprotein's (which cause arterial
cholesterol)
- High calorie (leads to obesity and early onset
diabetes)
- Low nutritional value
- Saturated fats and hydrogenated fats.
Soy protein bars are not only packed with
dozens of vitamins and minerals which conventional snack bars pack. But they’re heavily loaded with vital amino acids which the body cannot produce,
and are vital to maintaining bodily wellbeing. Soy proteins bars have
lots of high density lipoprotein's (which remove arterial cholesterol and send it to the liver to be broken
down). They also have relatively low calorie content, especially when
considering the amount of nutrients they deliver. Furthermore, as
opposed to saturated/hydrogenated fats, soy protein bars have poly-unsaturated fats. These un-saturated fats are derived from healthier plant oils, as opposed to
being chemically engineered or taken from animal fats.
Not only this, but these soy bars also taste great too!
Admittedly, they might not have the instant sugar rush that regular chocolate bars have. But considering the amount of nutrients and proteins they deliver to your body,
it’s somewhat more tasty then a chicken salad with no dressing. You
also must look into the fact that they are in general only around two hundred calories - as opposed to a regular
chocolate bar which can easily be double the calories with far less nutritional content.
Soy has often been scorned by many for its
lack of taste, but with soy protein bars this couldn’t be further from the truth. While admittedly soya by itself is hardly anything worth mentioning, who couldn’t
resist eating a soy chocolate bar, which tastes as good but with half
the calorie content? Soy bars come in a massive variety of different
flavors, and you can purchase genisoy protein bars that come in flavors
such as:
- Crispy chocolate mint
- Creamy peanut yogurt
- Peanut butter fudge
- Fudge brownie
- Café mocha fudge
Not sounding too bad now are
they?
These types of protein bars add not only to a healthy diet, but also to
those on a strict fitness diet regime. This makes them a perfect
accompaniment for weight loss programs, or exercise programs. The
bodybuilders out there will know that protein (and a variety of different proteins at that) is vital to gaining
muscle mass. There’s nothing better than eating a tasty soy bar, packed with lots of nutrients and
minerals!

Before arriving at the Soy Protein Bars we all love, soy first starts of in
plant form. As you can see from the picture on the left, there's nothing unusual about
this type of plant whatsoever. The only unusual aspect is its dizzying array of health
benefits and nutrients, which itself makes the plant very unique - and very tempting!
|
 |
Long before it finds its way into your soy packed foods, it's ground down into a fine
powder. Some of the parts of the plant that don't provide any nutrients, or aren't of use are
discarded. The active and healthy parts of the plant are processed, which leaves a
distinctive cream powder which can then be processed into food stuffs.
|
 |
This fine soy powder is mixed in with other healthy and nutritious foods such as
nuts and whole grains. It'll then be added to a caramel-like mixture (but one that tends
to be low in sugar and processed fats). After this, the whole bar is coated in a thin layer
of chocolate to give it a fantastic taste. This is only a thin covering though, to give you
the taste - but not the calories. |
There are several things that come as standard when you're buying soy protein bars -
the first being that you can expect that to be low calorie. You're generally looking at
around 200-300 calories for an average one. You should expect it, like the one pictured above, to come with a
small amount of something tasty. This would be something like a thin layer of chocolate, a small amount of
toffee, fudge or marshmallows. But instead of being like regular candy bars where the amounts of all these
unhealthy things make up 99% of it. With a healthy soya-based snack, you're looking at much
reduce amounts as a total percentage of the whole. What you may have, is a mixture of the soya-based mixture
with a small amount of caramel. It would end up having the same consistency as caramel, but it would be less
sugary and much more healthy for you!
